week 2 first evaluation of the Carousel

1. Evidence of me taking part: (Pictures, Diary entries, Printouts ETC) U1.1.2      ART AND DESIGN

2. Write up your experience of the following

2a Discuss any research that you carried out in these sessions: U2.1.1
Now list Primary and Secondary sources U2.2.1

Primary: In the first half of the day in Art we used different Mediums to sketch the same object 6 times , for example pencil, pen and ink. After experimenting with the materials, we chose our favourite one and then drew a final sketch.

In the second half of the session we went to a Print room to do Monoprinting, we learned to make a print picture, we then looked at how we could improve from the first one to make a second print.

Secondary: At the beginning of the Art session we looked at past students sketches to get an idea and inspiration to do our own sketches.
Before making our own mono prints the teacher quickly made her own one to show us how it was done this gave us an idea on how to do it.

2b Discuss any skills that you have tried: U2.1.1

In the first session we learned to do fast sketches to prepare us for making story boards.

In the second session we learned how to make print pictures through monoprinting.

2c Discuss any processes and methods you used (Photography wet process, Screen Printing, Photoshop layering etc): U1.1.1

What is your understanding of these?

Art
Process: Drawing the same object 6 times.
Method: I did this by using different mediums such as pencil and biro pen.

Monoprinting
Process: Tracing over an image to get an oil paint print, on  print paper.

Method: Done by rolling out the oil paint with a roller and then sellotaping a photo of an object to a piece of print paper. Then placing the whole thing over the rolled out oil and then tracing the photo with a pencil to get a print picture.

2d Discuss the tools that you used (Paint, Material, Software, etc): U2 3.1

For Art we used a number of different pens and pencils to get different drawings, for example felt tip pens, pencils and biro pens. All of these used on an A1 piece of paper.

When Monoprinting we had to use rollers to roll out the oil onto a sheet of glass. To make the print we used print paper and a pencil.

How effective are they?

Some of the pens and pencils were easier to draw with however all of drawings were as clear as each other.

To make a clear print you had to make sure you completed tracing the perimeter of the image and then add detail to the middle, this was not to hard and gave a good effect as a result.

How could this be improved?
